Cheminot belge (conducteur de train), décédé en service, dans le courant de l’année 2000, suite à un déraillement causé par l’inconséquence de quelques adolescents qui avaient posé des dalles de caniveau sur les rails, entrainant le heurt avec un autre convoi.
Nous avions rencontré Antonio, footballeur émérite dont la gentillesse et le fair-play n’étaient pas à démontrer, lors de tournois sur différents terrains européens (depuis 1994). Pour nous tous, il était devenu notre ami !
C’est donc à partir de 2001 que le tournoi de football européen se nomme « Challenge MASTRONARDI », à l’initiative de chemi- nots français et tchèques.
Depuis, les amis footballeurs, multi générationnels, des chemins de fer européens se retrouvent donc une fois par an dans un autre pays, en respectant un certain turn-over. Ces joutes sont toujours imprégnées par l’esprit du fair-play et des échanges culturels. C’est ainsi que durant de nombreuses années, notre équipe française a eu l’occasion de vivre de sensationnels championnats en Angleterre, Italie, République Tchèque, Autriche, Suisse, Hongrie, Belgique ou Slovaquie.
Naturellement, l’organisation et la participation à ce challenge nécessite un budget conséquent. Malgré la quote-part versée par chaque joueur et accompagnateurs, nous ne pouvons ho- norer de notre présence ces rencontres que grâce aux généreux donateurs qui participent soit par des dons ou des mises à disposition d’installations.
Une cérémonie solennelle à la mémoire des cheminots euro- péens qui ont perdu la vie, suite à l’irresponsabilité de personnes dépourvus de tout civisme clôture le challenge en présence des autorités locales et des généreux donateurs.

Belgický železničář (řidič vlaku) zemřel při výkonu svého po- volání v roce 2000 následkem vykolejení vlaku. Vykolejení bylo způsobeno několika mladíky, kteří položili na koleje žla- bové desky, což způsobilo srážku s dalším vlakem.
Poznali jsme Antonio jako vynikajícího fotbalistu, jehož laskavost a smysl pro fair-play byly příkladné, během řady evropských zápasů (od roku 1994).
Pro náš všechny se stal naším přítelem.
A proto od roku 2001 se z iniciativy francouzských a českých železničářů se tento fotbalový turnaj jmenuje
«Challenge MASTRONARDI».
Již 24 let se jednou ročně, pokaždé v jiné zemi, scházejí fot- baloví přátelé napříč generacemi. Pokaždé se jedná o hry prodchnuté myšlenkou fair-play a kulturní výměnou. Takto během mnoha let náš francouzský tým měl příležitost zažít nádherné zápasy ve Velké Británii, Itálii, České republice, Ra- kousku, Švýcarsku, Maďarsku, Belgii nebo Slovensku.
Samozřejmě organizace a účast na těchto hrách vyžaduje značné nanční prostředky. Přesto, že každý hráč a jeho do- provod se osobně nančně podílí, můžeme se těchto setkání zúčastnit pouze díky velkorysým dárcům, kteří se podílí buď sponzorskými dary nebo poskytováním zařízení.
Slavnostní ceremoniál k uctění památky evropských pra- covníků železnic, kteří přišli o život kvůli nezodpovědnosti lidí, co nemají úctu k životu, uzavírá tyto hry za přítomnosti zás- tupců místních úřadů a velkorysých dárců.

A Belgian railwayman (a train driver) died during the exercise of his profession in the year 2000 following a train derailment. The derailment was caused by the recklessness of several youths who put gutter plates on the railways leading to a collision with another train.
We have met Antonio, an amazing football player, whose kindness and sense of fair-play was exemplary during many of European games (since 1994).
He has become friend to all of us.
This is the reason why thanks to the incentive of French and Czech railway workers the European football tournament is called “Challenge MASTRONARDI” since 2001.
For 24 years, football fans of all ages meet each year in a different country for the games which are always full of the sense of fair-play and cultural exchange.
That is also why our French team had the possibility to experience amazing championships in Great Britain, Italy, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Belgium and Slovakia for so many years.
Naturally, the organization of these games and participation in them, both require considerable funds. Even though, every player and his escort financially participate, we are only able to finance our participation at these games thanks to the generous donors who either support us financially by the means of donation or provide equipment.
A festive ceremony to commemorate the European railway workers, who have lost their lives due to the irresponsibility of people lacking the sense public-spiritedness, closes these games in the presence of representatives of local authorities and generous donors.

Ferroviere belgo (conduttore di treno) deceduto in servizio durante l'anno 2000, seguendo un deragliamento causato dall'incoerenza di alcuni adolescenti che avevano posato delle lastre di gronda sui binari, causando la collisione con un altro convoglio.
Noi abbiamo incontrato Antonio, calciatore emerito la cui gentilezza e fair play non dovevano essere dimostrati, durante i tornei su diversi terreni europei (da 1994). Per tutti noi, era diventato il nostro amico ! E quindi da 2001 che il torneo di calcio europeo si chiama "Sfida MASTRONARDI", per iniziativa di ferrovieri francesi et cechi.
Da 24 anni, gli amici di calcio, multigenerazionale, ferrovie europee si ritrovano una volta all'anno in un altro paese, rispettando un certo turn-over. Questi giochi sono sempre impregnanti dello spirito del fair play e degli scambi culturali. E come durante molti anni, la nostra squadra francese ha avuto l'opportunità di vivere sensazionali ampionati in Inghilterra, Italia, Repubblica Ceca, Autria, Svizzera, Ugheria, Belgio o Slovacchia.
Naturalmente, l'organizzazione e la partecipazione a questa sfida richiede un budget sostanzial. Nonostante la quota pagata da ogni giocatore e accompagnatore, non posiamo onorare questi incontri con la nostra presenza grazie ai generosi donatori che partecipano attraverso donazioni o la fornitura di strutture.
Una ceremonia solenne in memoria dei ferrovieri europei che hanno perso la vita, seguendo l'irresponsabilità delle persone prive di ogni civismo si chiude la sfida con la presenza delle autorità locali e dei generosi donatori.

Ein belgischer Eisenbahner (ein Lokführer) starb bei der Ausü- bung seines Berufes im Jahr 2000 nach einer Zugentgleisung. Die Entgleisung wurde durch die Sorglosigkeit einiger Jugendli- cher verursacht, die Rinnsteinplatten auf die Bahngleise setzten, die zu einer Kollision mit einem anderen Zug führten.
Wir haben Antonio kennengelernt, einen großartigen Fußballs- pieler, dessen Freundlichkeit und Fairness in vielen europäischen Spielen beispielhaft war (seit 1994). Er ist Freund von uns allen geworden.
Dies ist der Grund, warum das europäische Fußballturnier seit 2001 wegen der Motivation französischer und tschechischer Eisenbahner «Challenge MASTRONARDI» genannt wird.
Seit 24 Jahren treffen sich Fußballfans jeden Alters in einem an- deren Land für die Spiele, die immer voller Fairplay und kulturel- lem Austausch sind.
Aus diesem Grund hatte unser französisches Team die Möglich- keit, in Großbritannien, Italien, der Tschechischen Republik, Ös- terreich, der Schweiz, Ungarn, Belgien und der Slowakei seit vie- len Jahren fantastische Meisterschaften zu erleben.
Natürlich, die Organisation dieser Spiele und die Teilnahme an ihnen, beide erfordern erhebliche Mittel. Auch wenn jeder Spie- ler und seine Begleitung nanziell beteiligt sind, können wir unsere Teilnahme an diesen Spielen nur dank der großzügigen Spender nanzieren, die uns entweder nanziell durch Spenden unterstützen oder Ausrüstung zur Verfügung stellen.
Eine feierliche Zeremonie zum Gedenken an die europäischen Eisenbahner, die durch die Verantwortungslosigkeit der Menschen, die keinen Sinn für das öffentliche Leben haben, ihr Leben verloren haben, schließt diese Spiele in Anwesenheit von Vertretern der lokalen Behörden und großzügigen Spendern.
